Tattie Scones

Tatties scones or Potato scone is a Scotland dish and also referred with different names in other part of the world. To make it simple, Potato scone are small circular bread, cut in to quarters. They are often serves as breakfast with fried eggs, bacon and sliced sausage.  This simple dish is very tasty and goes well with all spicy gravy( to satisfy our taste buds).
I have adapted this recipe from " Felicity Cloake's " Perfect series for Blogging Marathon # 38. You can add any spices according to your taste, which make this bread more tasty.

Preparation time: 20 ~ 30 minutes
Cooking time: 3 minutes for one circle
Yield: 24 triangles
Adapted from here

Ingredients:
500 g floury potatoes, unpeeled
50 g butter
125 g plain flour, plus extra to dust
Salt and black pepper to taste

Method:
1. Pressure cook or on stove top, cook potatoes to soft with sufficient water. Once potatoes are cooked, transfer to another bowl with out water and peel off the skins.
2.Add 40g butter to potato and mash, then stir in the flour and salt, pepper to taste. Knead it in to soft dough. ( it would be sticky at this stage).

3.Divide the dough in to equal portion balls and roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 5 mm thick circle. Dust lightly with flour and prick all over with a fork.

3. Heat the remaining butter in a griddle or large heavy based frying pan over a medium-high heat and then fry until golden on both sides (about 3-5 minutes). Cut into triangles and serve hot or cool in a tea towel for later.
